Savannah Miller finds it “gut-wrenching” to be away from her children.
The
is a busy working mom to kids Moses, Lyra and Bali and teenage stepson Java.
The 31-year-old launched label Twenty 8 Twelve with her actress sister Sienna in 2007 and has since created her own self-titled line, Savannah.
“Working mothers self-flagellate. We’re all at it,” she admitted to British Vogue.
“I was always adamant that I would never be gone for longer than three days, but it’s gut-wrenching to be away. It kills me. I feel guilty that I’m away from my children, and then guilty that I enjoy my work. It’s constant.”
Her sister Sienna gave birth to her first child, Marlowe, earlier this year, meaning she will also have to learn to juggle her career with parenthood.
Luckily the girls had a good role model in the form of their stepmother when they were growing up.
“She worked bloody hard to support us,” Savannah recalled.
“I was very conscious of the fact she would work extremely hard and then we could go on holiday. Her work ethic was very deeply instilled within me.”
Savannah is married to Nick Skinner and clearly values her family life deeply.
However, she admits she will always be hard-working as she couldn’t stand to be reliant on anyone else.
“There is a very good reason for hard work,” she conceded.
“It’s quite nice being financially independent, after all. Can you imagine having to say to your husband, ‘Is it OK if I go and get my highlights done?’ F**k that. I’d be doomed.” © Cover Media
